Territorial Continuity
Installation, porcelain, sewing pins | 2024
The work consists of white porcelain objects based on topographic maps created from photographs of houses in areas affected by destruction. Through a subtractive process, the images were transformed into fragmented porcelain forms, deepening a process of abstraction. These fragments were hand-cut and suspended on the wall with delicate sewing pins. The work grew out of an attempt to examine and reorganize personal and collective perceptions of territory, home, and identity through material and form, while holding the tension
and fragility embedded in the structures we create.
This site-specific installation was developed as part of the Human Shield project. Read more about the work
and its development in the Human Shield project page.
