Hourglass
Performance art \ Installation | 2025
A durational performance rooted in a material investigation of mass, flow, weight, balance, and endurance. While carrying the weight of a vest made of ice bags filled with sand, the artist repeatedly scoops sand and refills suspended plastic bags—enacting a Sisyphean loop of filling and emptying, where nothing truly progresses. The act, both necessary and futile, causes time to flow and stall simultaneously. As the body gradually becomes both material and instrument, absorbed into the system it propels, the work unfolds into a reflection on the illusion of protection within daily routine, and the quiet dissonance between surface stability and internal collapse. It invites a renewed gaze at time, vulnerability, and the fragility beneath the surface.
